February 21 @ 9:00 pm
Originally just a producer under the moniker “Rockstar” – Los Angeles Rapper Kid Ink broke into the music industry in the Mid 2000’s collaborating with the late Nipsey Hussle as the producer of their group alongside Rimpau. In 2009 “Rockstar” dropped his first solo project: a Mixtape entitled “World Tour.” This is when he began to foster a relationship with Blogger/Mixtape DJ – DJ ill Will.
The 2 teamed up as Will signed Kid Ink to his newly founded Tha Alumni Music Group label in early 2010. Over the next 2 years they dropped underground classic Mixtapes “Crash Landing” “Daydreamer” “Wheels Up” and “Rocketshipshawty.” These mixtapes cemented Ink in the new blogger era of Hip-Hop and was chosen to be on the cover of XXL Magazines 2012 Freshman issue alongside Future, Macklemore, Iggy Azealea, Machine Gun Kelly and more.
Following the release of the Freshman Issue, Ink and Will dropped an independent album titled “Up & Away” in June 2012. The album debuted at number 20 on the Billboard 200, with first-week sales of 20,000 copies in the United States. Following the success of U&A – Kid Ink signed a major label record deal with RCA Records in January of 2013 and officially launched his Major Label chapter with the single “Bad Ass” featuring Wale & Meek Mill.
While with RCA Records from 2013-2019, Kid Ink released 3 albums “My Own Lane” (2014) “Full Speed” (2015) “Summer in The Winter” (2015) and several EP’s and Mixtapes. With over 20 Million Singles sold, Kid Ink has established himself as one of the era’s biggest Hitmakers. Those records include the following RIAA Certifications:
- Show Me feat Chris Brown (4X Platinum)
- Worth It (w/ Fifth Harmony) (5X Platinum)
- Hell & Back (Platinum)
- Body Language feat Usher (2X Platinum)
- Be Real feat Dej Loaf (2X Platinum)
- Main Chick feat Chris Brown (2X Platinum)
- Promise feat Fetty Wap (2X Platinum)
In late 2019, Kid Ink announced his departure from RCA Records and his journey back into Independent Rap. Since then he has released a slew of singles as well as an album titled “ALIVE” released in April 2021 with the Deluxe version of “ALIVE” dropping in January of 2022.
